Antique Transitional Chair

FOR SALE... $99 @ The Depot

Here's a great little poem I love so much! I wanted to share it with you...
The Table And The Chair by Edward Lear

Said the table to the chair,
"You can scarcely be aware
How I suffer from the heat
And from blisters on my feet!
If we took a little walk
We might have a little talk.
Pray, let us take the air!"
Said the table to the chair.

Said the chair unto the table,
"Now you know we are not able!
How foolishly you talk
When you know we cannot walk!"
Said the table with a sigh,
"It can do no harm to try.
I've as many legs as you.
Why can't we walk on two?"

So they both went slowly down,
And walked about the town,
With a cheerful bumpy sound
As they toddled all around.
And everybody cried
As they ran up to their side
"See! The table and the chair
Have come out to take the air!"

But, in going down an alley,
To the castle, in the valley,
They completely lost their way
And they wandered all the day
‘Til, to see them safely back,
They paid a ducky-quack
And a beetle and a mouse
To take them to their house.

Then they whispered to each other
"Oh delightful little brother!
What a lovely walk we've taken!
Let us dine on beans and bacon!"
So the ducky and the little
Brownie-mousey and the beetle
Dined, and danced upon their heads,
‘Til they toddled to their beds.

It's the little things...

Sweet, curious close-ups of tender items in our booth @ The Depot!

Patio? Don't Mind If I Do!

My daughter just brought home the latest book from the Junk Beautiful ladies. Wow! I know she would just love to have this exact set-up for her house in Raleigh. Now we each just need someone who could spend the amount of time it takes to keep each of our patio dreams afloat! If you want to check out the Junk Beautiful: room to room makeovers you can at the Union County Public Library. Can you tell my daughter is a librarian? I have to say too, that I couldn't do this blog without her ;-)

UpCycle Old Treasures

A term you hear a lot about these days is "upcycle", just search Esty.com and you'll find roughly 71,000 results. And the best place to find furniture and chotchkies is at your local antique shop. I bet you'll find the rare gems you've been searching for!

Take for instance this upcycled ottoman found on Dwell; or, the many wonderful watch faces found at the Raleigh Flea Market...

In our shop you'll find jewelry, travel cases, and architectural pieces. Remember, upcycling improves the quality of materials, and it's eco-friendly; just like buying antiques!

Hello, Friends!

It has been a very busy spring so far -- Lots of new things we have pulled out to include at our booth at The Depot. We've also been rearranging our shop, and getting up a new blog! I am looking forward to taking some photos of our outdoor furnishings at The Depot tomorrow when we go up. I look forward to sharing them here.

If you have any questions or topics you would like researched, please just email me. In the meantime, here is a photo looking through to our many rooms of the shop in Monroe. More to come, so check back often!

Also, I had to share a photo with you that I snapped with my phone. My daughter has been making me promise to pull over when she calls me on my mobile. It was a real treat because I also got a chance to smell the... daffodils!
